Abstract

News is vital for the transmission of political, economic and cultural
information. With the development of globalization, China participates in world’s
economic and cultural exchanges with a more open attitude. We need more
economic information to keep up with the world’s economy, so the value of
economic news is noticeable. News translation is a profession almost as old as the
history of newspapers. Historically, the study of news translation in our country
started late but has developed fast. Since English news has its unique language
features and rules, the mastery of English has a great influence on the reading
effect. As a result, the burden of introducing English economic news falls on the
translators’ shoulders.
The author completes the report on the basis of the translation of A Special
Report on World Economy selected from The Economist and this report provides
an explicit description about the task from three parts, task description, process
description and case analysis. In the part of case analysis, the author analyzes the
translation from the aspects of the headline, the lead and the body, using examples
with many translation methods. The analysis of
