Abstract—The development and evaluation of a seasonal air
quality model for ozone by munity Multiscale Air II DESCRIPTION OF MODEL
Quality (CMAQ) model for the summer of 2001 in the Great
Lakes in this paper are described. The CMAQ simulated ozone Models-munity Multiscale Air Quality (CMAQ)
and the Air Quality System (AQS) observed values pared modeling system are to improve the environmental
utilizing hourly ozone values. Normalized Mean Bias (NMB) and
Normalized Mean Error (NME) as statistical metrics are used for munity's ability to evaluate the impact of air
evaluation the simulation performance. Ozone prediction quality management practices for multiple pollutants at
performance is good, with the 5 sites for summer season having multiple scales and the scientist’s ability to better probe,
NMB values within ±15% and NME values less than 35%. The understand, and simulate chemical and physical interactions in
model tends to underestimate ozone concentration with average the atmosphere. It can handle interactions at different dynamic
NMB -%. Simulation results reflect the relationship scales and among multi-pollutants with one modeling system.
