儒家有执中之心法,仙家有还虚之修持。盖中即虚空之性体,执中即还虚之功用也。惟仙佛种子,始能还虚尽性,以纯于精一之诣。若夫人心,则戾其虚空之性体,冲冲不安,流浪生死,无有出期。故欲修仙体者,先须成载道之器。欲成载道之器,必须尽还虚之功。虚也者,鸿湾未判以前,无极之初也。斯时也,无天也,无地也,无山也,无川也,亦无人我与昆虫草木也。万象空空,香无朕兆,此即本来之性体也。还虚也者,复归无极之初,以完夫本来之性体也。(《最初还虚第一》)
