摘要
从文化角度研究中国现当代文学是目前学术界的一大热点,但是,在笔者
有限的阅读范围之内,却较少发现以深入发掘文化意象为关注角度探讨 20 世纪
中国文学的专著与论文,因此,本论文试图以此为着眼点,选择 20 世纪有代表
性的四位作家代表作品中的“舟船”文化意象,结合作家文化心理的复杂性,
探察四作家的文化观与他们对 20 世纪中国文化自尊的艰难寻找。
本论文主体由四章组成。
第一章论述乡土文学作家王统照的短篇小说《沉船》。《沉船》对外国小火
轮贪利超载、沉没灾民的事实表示了抗议,描述了当时历史境遇下西方文化在
中国的快速渗透,表达了作者对民族文化自尊失落的一种切肤之痛。
第二章用对比的研究方法,比较沈从文和钱钟书这两位现代文学大师的两
部名著《边城》与《围城》,《边城》表达了作者舍利取义的文化观。《围城》中
的“欲望之船”是另一座精神“围城”。
第三章论述张炜的小说《古船》,贯穿作品始终的是“古船”这一复杂的文
化意象,它在文中是“缺席的在场”,承载着多重复杂的价值:一是对心灵自由
的渴望;二是理想与救赎的象征;三则代表了中华古文明。
论文第四章以具体文本为例,对王统照、沈从文、钱钟书、张炜四作家的
文化心态作了分析比较。20 世纪是中华民族经历激烈动荡与变革的世纪,从《沉
船》到《古船》显示了一条文化自尊的艰难找寻之路。

Abstract 
It  was  an  hot  academic point  that studied on  Chinese contemporary  literature 
from the view of culture, while, little attention had paid to the aspect of the culture 
 were few work or thesis studied on that field at 20 century in writer’s 
limited reading scope. Therefore,this paper focused on the cultural  imagery  “Boat” 
in  representative  works:Wang  Tongzhao’s  Sank  Ship  ,Shen  Congwen’s  Remote 
Village ,Qian Zhongshu’s Besieged City and Zhang Wei’s Old Boat , linked up with 
complicated cultural psychology of writers, attempted to elaborate the writers’ ideas 
on culture and the found course of Chinese cultural self­esteem at 20 century 
The paper had four parts. 
The first part introduced novel Sank Ship by Wang Tongzhao, expressed the protest 
on  the  fact  that  a  small  foreign  ship  wanted  to  seek  more  interests  and 
overloaded ,lead to shipwrecks and the victims sank. 
The  second  part  contrasted  the  famous  works  Remot  Village  with  Besieged  City, 
displayed that “The boat of desire ” in Besieged City was another “ besieged city” of 
spirit.
