Our goals
Four Major Elements
1. The people - who run the venture, who are resources and suppliers and supporters
2. The opportunity -- the business, what to sell, to whom, how can it grow, how fast
3. The context-- big pictures, rules, regulations, markets, inflation, interest rates
4. Risk and reward--access everything that can go wrong, and how can you deal with it
1. The people
VC -- look at your resume first. Who are the people, where educated, experiences, track records
three basic questions to people:
what do they know
whom do they know
how well are they known
their insights and experiences; know industrial players and dynamics
Who are they anyway
Where are the founders from
where got education
where have worked , for whom
what have plished, or failed
reputation and experiences
skills, ability, and knowledge
how realistic they are
who else need to be on the team

what are their motivations
2. The Opportunity
Two basic questions:
The products or services-- how large and how rapid it is growing -- the market
the industry-- will it be structurally attractive
in the business model, 7 questions to answer:
who are the customer
how they make purchase decisions
what is the degree that the customers have to buy
price; -- cost
market segmentation
customers loyalty

business one time investment, I. E. fixed assets
grow and expansion

Competition: the biggest fear
Who are petitors
who are petitors
what resources they control
how will they response to the launch of the new venture
how new venture response to petitors response -- game theory
how to cope petitors by forming alliance
3. The Context
Opportunities exist in a context
macro economic environment -
inflation
interest rate
employment opportunities
laws, legislation -- tax; etc.
government regulations, and rules
