Research on the Mechanism of Minimum Frequency Resolution in
Visible Light Positioning System

Abstract The minimum frequency resolution plays an important role in the capacity of visible
light positioning system. Smaller resolution can support more available addresses. In order to
expand the system capacity, this paper firstly studies the main influencing factors of visible
light imaging, such as object distance and exposure time of image sensor, and conducts
quantitative analysis on the minimum frequency resolution based on the above factors. Finally,
the minimum frequency resolution required to accurately identify LED-ID under different
object distances was tested by using the mainstream LED-ID recognition algorithm based on
the visible light positioning system, which is characterized by the size of the imaging region
and the number of bright stripes. The experimental results show that when the object distance
is 50cm, 100cm and 200cm respectively, the corresponding minimum frequency resolution is
60Hz, 100Hz and 200Hz. With the increase of
