Eg.: Not only does he run fast, but also he plays football

7. 强调句
It is(was)+强调成分+that(who)+句子(原句的剩余
部分)
It is only when one is ill that one realizes the value
of health.
It was Doctor Li that we invited to give us a lecture.
It is Professor Wang that(who) sent me the letter.

1)以along with,together with, with, as
well as, panied by, rather than, but,
except连接的两个主语时,其谓语的单复数应以第一个主语为主。
Several passengers, together with the
driver, were hurt.
No one except my parents knows
anything about it.
2).表示时间、重量、长度、价格的复数名词作主语,
谓语动词用单数形式。
Fifty years is not a long time.
Four thousand dollars is morn than she can
afford.
3).非谓语动词、从句或其它短语作主语,谓语动词
用单数形式。
Early to bed and early to rise is healthful.
How the book will sell depends on the author.
4).如果主语是由and连接的两个单数名词,但前面有
each, every, no等词修饰时,谓语动词用单数。
Every boy and girl in this region is taught to read
and write.

The population of the earth is increasing
very fast.
One third of the population here are
workers.
这类的集合名词有:family, class,
audience, committee, crowd, crew, group,
party, population, team, public, council,
village等

指谓语动词单复数取决于离它最近的词语,而无考
虑其它的词。
…or, or, neither…nor,和not only…but
also连接的
两个主语,其谓语的单复数修饰应以与谓语最近的
主语为主。

hurt.
