Overview
It is vitally important paq that everyone in Procurement is well
trained in identifying problems and bringing them to prompt closure.
The method embraced paq is the 8 Discipline (8D) approach.
The purpose of this training is to educate the user in each of the 8
Disciplines which leads to permanent corrective action and
elimination of the problem.

In relation paq Procurement, an 8D is most likely used to solve a
customer satisfaction, quality, or product reliability issue; however,
the 8D approach can be implemented in other areas such as
administrative, engineering, etc…

The 8-D approach should be used when:
A significant supplier attributable issue, which has paq to
issue a purge or a Finished Good’s product hold.
A significant field or customer satisfaction issue that has been
attributed to a supplier issue.
Failed quality audit either internal (EPIA, FPIA, CDIT, etc…) to
Compaq or the supplier.
