】的内容,可以使用淘豆网的站内搜索功能,选择自己适合的文档,以下文字是截取该文章内的部分文字,如需要获得完整电子版,请下载此文档到您的设备,方便您编辑和打印。BeyondRestoration:ConsideringEmotionRegulationinNaturalWell-BeingMilesRichardsonpeoplewithnatureforwell-beingareemerging,forexampleintheUnitedKingdom’s25YearEnvironmentPlan(25YEP;HMGovernment,HumanSciencesResearchCentre,UniversityofDerby,Derby,2018).Toinformsuchwork,thereisaneedtounderstandthemecha---beingbenefitsofnature,andacloseconnectiontoit,,inthecontextoftheOurrelationshipwiththerestofthenaturalworldcanhelpemotioncrisisinbiodiversity(Ceballos,Ehrlich,&Dirzo,2017),itisimportanttoregulation,yettheroleofnatureintheregulationofemotionsisoftenprovidenarrativesthatshowthatnaturemattersforhumanwell-,essiblemodelsthatcanexplainanddisseminationofnature’essfulaffectregulationre-promotethosewell--being,ountofthehealthbasedonrestorationandtoimproveunderstandingofnature’sroleinbenefitshumansderivefromthenaturalworldbasedonmaintainingemotionregulation,ountofthewell-beingwell-beingthroughemotionregulationandbalance(WERB).(seerelationshipsbetweenemotionregulation,well-being,andnatureMaller,Townsend,Pryor,Brown,&StLeger[2006]-[2013]forreviews),thewell-beingbenefitsofnatureconnectedness,,andcloserelationshipwithnature,areincreasinglydocumented(Capaldi,DownloadedbySTOCKHOLMSUNIVERSITETfrom/29/,highlightstheinterconnectednessbetweenDopko,&Zelenski,2014;al.,2017).Thedominantpeopleandtherestofnature,fittingawidernarrativeaboutthemodelsthatareoftenpresentedasexplainingthewell--exposuretonaturearebaseduponpsychologicalrestoration(:Affectregulation—Emotion—Natureetal.,2011).AttentionRestorationTheory(ART;Kaplan,1995)andconnectedness—Nature—Well-(SRT;Ulrichetal.,1991)provideimportantaccountsofwhynatureprovidesrestorationforthosewhoareexpe-,earlyindicationssuggestthatARTheroleofnatureintheregulationofemotionsisoftenandSRTdonotexplainthebenefitsofnatureconnectedness(Capaldioverlooked(Korpelaetal.,2018).Thisisdespitesomerecog-etal.,2017;Gidlowetal.,2016).Thereisalsoresearchthathasques-nitionthatourrelationshipwiththerestofthenaturalworldtionedART,withareviewbyOhlyetal.(2016)findingthatseveralTplaysaroleintheprocessofemotionregulation(Johnsen&(2011)alsoargueRydstedt,2013;Jordan,2009).Givenglobalissuesinmentalwell-beingagainstthepsycho-ount(Chandra&Chand,2018;Frankish,Boyce,&Horton,2018)andin-,ithasalsoeptanceofthebenefitsofnature,policiesonconnectingbeennotedthatnaturehasbeneficialeffectswhenresourceshavenotDOI:.0012aMARYANNLIEBERT,INC.JUNE2019ECOPSYCHOLOGY1RICHARDSONbeendepleted(BeuteandKort,2014),withJohnsenandRydstedtyondthesedirecteffects,therearealsomanyindirecteffectsofaffect(2013),,emotionsprovidetheimpetusforactionandnaturalenvironmentisoftenoverlooked(Korpelaetal.,2018);formotivation(Gilbert,2014),recentguidanceonthepathwayslinkinggreenspacetoThethree-circlemodelofemotionregulation()wasdevelopedhealthbyMarkevychetal.(2017)(2005,2014),theroleofnatureinemotionregulationisoftenoverlookedmodel,thethree--ountsdonotexplainnonclinicalsettings,forexamplewithchildreninschools,toexplainallthewell-,togetherwiththehowtheregulationofemotionsisrelatedtowell--beingandthewidernaturalworld,-ountoftheadaptedwithelementsofnatureusedtorepresentboththethreetypeswell-(seedrive,contentment,andthreatbelow)-andWell--being(.,Gross,2013).,Gross(2013)presentsthelinksbetweenemo-explainthepositivephysiologicalresponsesfoundfromexposuretotionregulationanddecreasedriskofcoronaryheartdisease(Kubzansky,Park,Peterson,Vokonas,&Sparrow,2011).Similarly,DeSteno,Gross,andKubzansky(2013)presentanumberofpathwayslinkingemotionsandhealth,notinghowemotions,andtheirregulation,arefundamentalfeaturesofhumanfunction,ratherthanby--damentalhumanfunction,emotionsalterthebody’sphysiology(.,car-DownloadedbySTOCKHOLMSUNIVERSITETfrom/29/,bloodpressure,immuneresponse),providingthepotentialtoimpactonhealthandwell-,inflammation,andillnessfrequency,,incertaincircumstances,short-termadaptivephysiologicalresponsescanesinthelongtermifemotionsarenotregu-latedcorrectly(Sapolsky,2007).Be--circlemodelofaffectregulation(informedbyGilbert,2014).2ECOPSYCHOLOGYJUNE2019EMOTIONREGULATIONINNATURALWELL-BEINGnature(Chiricoetal.,2017;Richardson,McEwan,Maratos,&Sheffield,theticandparasympatheticsystemandtwobranchesofthevagal2016;Song,Igarashi,Ikei,&Miyazaki,2017):namely,measuredre-nervearefundamentaltoaffiliativebehaviorsandattachmentthatsponsestoforestbathing,awe-inspiringnaturalbeauty,andviewingbringemotionregulation(Porges,2007).,oncethere-essfulaffectregulation,whichaswehaveseenabovesearchunderpinningthethree--,thethree-circlemodelThemodelrepresentsouraffectregulationsysteminthreedi-providesanarrativethatthewell-beingbenefitsofnaturegobe-mensionsbasedonaffiliativeandpositiveemotions(Depue&-Morrone-Strupinsky,2005),threatsystemresearchbyLeDoux(1998)regulationsystemcontrolsourheartrate,muscles,andthewayourandPanksepp(1998),ervousbrainfunctionsinordertoachievethebalancerequiredforwell-systembalance(Porges,1995).Thethree-circlemodelexplainsthebeing(Kappas,2011).Therefore,onewayofinvestigatingthebalanceexperiencesofdrive,contentment,(sympatheticbetweenparasympatheticandsympatheticsystems,orbetweenactivating)isrequiredtoseekoutrewardsandrelatestopositivecontentment,drive,andthreatinthethree-circlemodel,isbymea-(HRV).-regulatingexploringchangesininhibitoryparasympatheticactivityandex-andhasanaffiliativefocus(parasympatheticactivating),-beingthroughnature,.(2016).Inareviewandmeta-(rapidsympatheticactivation)relatestoourself-studiesthattookHRVmeasures,14indicatedgreaterparasympa-(contentment)andlowersympatheticactivity(drive)torepresentboththreatandalsotheanxietysomemayfeelataninthenatureexposureconditions,thussupportingthethree--physiologicalresponsetoawe-inspiringnaturalscenes(Chiricotems,,plex,pro-etal.,2017),viewingbeautifulroses(Songetal.,2017),andsimplyducingblendedpatternsofpositiveaffect,ratherthanonesystemtouchingwood(Ikei,Song,&Miyazaki,2017).-ountoftwohowinteractionwiththenaturalworldcanleadtogreaterpara-phasesofpositivestates,appetitiveactivity‘‘doing’’andconsum-sympatheticactivity(contentment)andlowersympatheticactivitymatoryresponse‘‘being’’(Tinbergen,1951),describesthebalance(drive)andthusplayaroleinaffectregulationthatisoftenover-,drivesys-looked(Korpelaetal.,2018).However,participantresponsesvaried,,Song,Ikei,Ka--gawa,andMiyazaki(2015)notedthat80%ofpeopleshowedanDownloadedbySTOCKHOLMSUNIVERSITETfrom/29/(Gilbert,2014)isdistinctincreaseinparasympatheticactivityand64%showeddecreasesinfromthecontentmentsystemwhichisseenasaffect-(Depue&Morrone-Strupinsky,2005)..(2015)notethatsomepeopleandMorrone-Strupinsky(2005),andmirroringthewakefulrelaxa-reportastrongdislikefornaturalenvironments,includingspecifictionandpositiveemotionaltypologyofUlrich(1983),themodelphobiassuchasarachnophobia,—,itispossiblethatsomepeopleaskedtositintheforestjoyortherelaxedcalmofcontentment(Gilbert,2014).DuringourdisplayedathreatresponsethatwasthenobservedintheHRVstatesofbeinganddoing,-,thecalmingandsoothingemotionsofcontentmentandOurConnectionwithNaturetonedownthethreatanddrivesystems,(seeKorpelaItisthebalancebetweensystemsthatproducesdifferentmoodetal.,2018,forarecentreview),-helpmaintainpositivemoodstatesandshiftawayfromnegativeaMARYANNLIEBERT,INC.(2009)-‘‘biomedical’’modelofmedicineex-arefurtherindicationsofarelationshipbetweenemotionregulationpandedtothe‘‘biopsychosocial’’model(Engel,1977),afacetofnatureconnectednessissuggeststhathealthdependsonaunityofbiology,psychology,andbasedonouraffectiverelationshipwithnature,whereanindividualnature,a‘‘biopsychophysis’’(al.,2017;VanGordonhasaclose,emotionalrelationshipwiththerestofthenaturalworldetal.,2018)wherepeopleareembeddedwithinadynamicrelation-(Mayer&Frantz,2004;Perrin&Benassi,2009).Second,Fonagyshipwiththenaturalenvironment,(2018)explainshowaffectregulationplaysafundamentalroleintheviewisincreasinglyseeninmodelsofhealth,forexample,theonesenseofse
