Version 1:Adonis’s born
The first myth of Aphrodite and Adonis involves the man’s parents and is a story about beauty, love and jealousy.
Myrrha was a very beautiful young lady.
Because she neglected the worship of Aphrodite.
Aphrodite caused her to fall in love with her own father--- King Cinyrus of
Aphrodite tricked him into unknowing spending the night with his daughter.
When he discovered what happened, he tried to kill Myrrha and her unborn child—Adonis.
Version1:Adonis’s born
Aphrodite was so regret that she turned Myrrha into a myrrh tree(没药树).
Impressed by Adonis’s beauty, Aphrodite gave him to Persephone(冥后)to raise.
When the time came for Persephone to give Adonis back to Aphrodite, she refused.
Finally, Zeus decided that Adonis lives with Persephone in cold season and can returns to the ground living with Aphrodite in the spring.
Version 2:Adonis’s death
when Ares heard that Aphrodite loves Adonis, he got jealous and decided to take revenge.
Aphrodite loves Adonis so much, but Adonis was more interested in hunting.
Aphrodite begged Adonis to give up hunting because she feared losing him.
Adonis ignored her advice and was killed while hunting by a wild boar, that was actually Ares.
Version 2:Adonis death
With Adonis still in her arms, Aphrodite turned the blood that fell from his wounds onto the soil into windflowers (风信子)as a memorial to their love.
In response to the tearful goddess, Zeus determined that Adonis should stay just for the half of the year in the Underworld.
