1. Noun (名词)
Classes of N :countable vs uncountable (名词的种类:可数名词与不可数名词)
可数名词前可用each, either, neither, another, these, those, both, (a) few, several, many, a great / good many, a large number of, scores of, dozens of等修饰,但不可数名词前不可用这些修饰语,而不可数名词前可用(a) little, much, a bit of, a great deal of, a large amount of等修饰,但可数名前不能用这些词修饰;不过,可数名词和不可数名词前均可用some, any, half, most, all, a lot of, lots of, plenty of, a large quantity of, quantities of等修饰。
特别说明:有些不可数名词的用法的用法值得注意,无论在什么情况下也没有复数形式的,即使受形容词修饰也不能加不定冠词的。如advice, fun, homework, information, news, progress, equipment, furniture, baggage / luggage, jewellery, clothing等。
Genitive case of N (名词的所有格)
③表示时间、距离、金额、天体、国家或城市等的名词也用-’s表示。如:
It’s less than two hours’ drive from 。
We visited some of the city’s scenic 。
–’s和of双重表示:
当被修饰的名词前有指示代词、疑问代词、不定代词或数词等限定词时,用双重所有格。如:
Two friends of my father’s came to see are certain to be happy with any relative of Mrs. Moore’。
另外,需注意常考的名词短语(05-09):
On condition that…在……条件下 in case(that sb. should do) 以防万一
In addition (to) 除……以外 do sb. a favour=give sb. a hand=help sb.
