Passenger Car—External Protrusions
GB 11566-1995
1 Scope
This national standard specifies the terminology, general specifications, particular specifications
and the examination method on passenger car external protrusions. It does not apply to exterior
rear-view mirrors or to towing devices.
This standard applies to passenger cars. Another motor vehicle of category M1 may carry out
with reference to it.
2 Definition
Passenger Car exterior protrusions
The body external protrusions which likely to catch on pedestrians, cyclists or motor cyclists hit
by bruising against it. The inspection and measurement method stipulate in item 5.
External surface
Means the outside of vehicle including the engine , the roof, the doors, the wings, the lid
of the partment, the lighting and light- signaling devices and the visible
ponents.
Extreme outer edge of vehicle
In relation to the sides of the vehicle, the plane parallel to the median longitudinal plane of the
vehicle coinciding with its outer lateral edge, and, in relation to the front and rear ends, the
perpendicular transverse plane of the vehicle coinciding with its outer front and rear edges,
account not being taken of the projection:
