Overview
After several years of surveying, the National Academy of Engineering identified several areas yet to be resolved that will be impacted by the future work of engineers. Though each challenge holds significant value, it is reverse engineering the brain that I believe has the most potential to impact society as a whole. While the overall challenge for engineers is to make machines begin to function as the human brain does, the problem has arisen that applying how the human brain works to technology is extremely difficult. In order to address this problem, I propose that engineers should focus on Deep Brain Stimulation applications in order to master how the brain functions and improve the quality of human lives affected by brain abnormalities in the process. Throughout the process engineers must remember to take into account the ethics involved that will affect human lives. Though researching such a challenge may plex, allowing freshmen engineers plete such a research paper as this one offers much to be gained, including a sense of the contributions they too will be able to make.
The Issue
Trying to unlock the secrets of the human consciousness and inner workings of the brain has long been a mystery to researchers, both neuroscientists and engineers alik
