CATV Overview
• What is CATV ?
– Broadcast signal by satellite
– Received by Antenna at earth station
– Transmission munity over guided media using Electronic
equipments

– Guided media : Coaxial Cable
– Parts : Head End , Trunk Coaxial Cable , Feeder & Amplifier, Drop
coaxial cable
• What are Limitations of Traditional CATV ?
1. More amplifiers are needed : cause distortion to signal &
creates its own noise & non linear distortion
2. only downstream broadcasts to subscriber television sets
3. Bandwidth low 350 Mhz to 550 Mhz
