商务英语信函写作中否定信息传递特点的研究

摘要
随着经济与贸易的发展,商务信函作为商业交流的手段之一,在商业事务中
日益成为不可或缺的一部分,通过它人们可以交流信息,联系业务,商谈贸易,
处理问题,传递友谊等。而在商务沟通过程中,传达令对方失望的含有否定信息
的商务信函显得尤为重要,这是因为写信人同时要实现两个目标,既要传递否定
信息,又要和读者保持良好的商务关系。任何不当的否定信息都有可能造成客户
流失,给公司带来经济损失。因此这类英文商务信件的特点和功能决定了写信人
在信件写作过程中格外注重合作与礼貌策略的运用。
本文分别以学生的和标准的商务英语信函写作为载体,格赖斯的合作原则,
布朗和列文森的面子理论及利奇的礼貌原则为主要的理论框架,再结合具有否定
信息的商业信函的本质及功能,采用对比的方法对所搜集到的 28 篇学生的和 28
篇标准的商务英语信函写作英文商务信函语料,作了三个层面的描述性分析,即
从词法、句法及篇章的组织结构上进行了对比研究。
本研究旨在探讨在传达否定商务信函中,学生的和标准的商务英语信函写作
的差距,从而提高学生在该类英文商务信件的写作能力,进而帮助学生进行成功
的交际。虽然本研究所收集的商务信函的数量和种类有限,但研究结果仍然在一
定程度上对英文商务信件的研究与教学也能起到一定的促进作用。

Abstract
With the development of economy and trade, English business letter, being a
very important way of business exchange between business people, is ing a
significant and indispensable part in exchanging information, building and developing
business relationships, cooperating with business partners, dealing with transactions,
and maintaining goodwill. Yet in international transaction, negative-information
business letter is considered more important in that the writer should achieve two
purposes: one is to convey the negative information and the other is to maintain the
good interpersonal relationship with the reader. Any improper negative information
could result in the loss of customers and the economic profits to pany. Thus,
features and functions of such kind of English business letter determine that in the
process of writing, the writer should greatly focus on the Cooperative Principle and
the Politeness Theory.
In this thesis, taking the students’ and authentic English business letters as the
carrier, Grice’s Cooperative Principle, Brown and Levinson’s Face Theory and
Leech’s Politeness Theory as the major theoretical framework, combined with the
