ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
This thesis would not have been possible without the contributions of several
people. To all of these people, I wish to express my gratitude.
First and foremost, I wish to thank my thesis adviser, Dr. Jeffrey Spitler. His
expertise and respected reputation in the thermal sciences field allowed for the funding of
many projects and the opportunity for me to gain knowledge and experience in several
geothermal topics.
I also wish to thank to Dr. Simon Rees who served as an unofficial co-adviser
along the course of this thesis. His expertise putational methods was quite
valuable in helping me to achieve the project goals.
Thanks also to Dr. Marvin Smith who provided input and experimental data
regarding the supplemental heat rejecter studies
The review and contribution to this thesis by mittee members, Dr. R.
Delahoussaye and Dr. A. Ghajar are appreciated.
Last, but not least, I thank my colleagues in B-10, both here and gone, namely
Cenk Yavuzturk and Nagendra Jain, for their ideas and suggestions along the way.
