Introduction
Industrial relations and human resource management have a close relationship and interact with each other3>. The relationship is paratactic and both industrial relations and human resource management have their own features. (Abbott, 2007) This essay attempts to contrast pare the key characteristics of industrial relations and human resource management from five perspectives. The first perspective is the history of these two academic fields. Understanding the origin and growth of industrial relations and human resource management can help understand and pare these two fields. The second one is context. Both industrial relations and human resource management happen in a certain context and environment which can exert profound effect on both of them. The third perspective is from the key concepts and values of these two terms. In other words, this part will examine what these two fields pay attention to. The fourth part is about the main participants of these two fields. The last perspective is about major process of industrial relations and human resource management respectively.
