制造业是现代国民经济和综合国力关键支柱，其生产总值通常占一个国家中国生产总值20%~55%。在一个国家企业生产力组成中，制造技术作用通常占60%左右。教授认为，世界上各个国家经济竞争，关键是制造技术竞争。其竞争能力最终表现在所生产产品市场拥有率上。伴随经济技术高速发展和用户需求和市场环境不停改变，这种竞争日趋猛烈，所以各国政府全部很重视对优异制造技术研究。
