1、坚持预防为主，以公共卫生和预防保健为主要任务。在卫生院的指导下，依法开展农村疾病预防控制，重点控制严重危害农民群众身体健康的传染病、地方病、职业病和寄生虫病，积极开展慢性非传染性疾病的防治和管理；及时处理传染病疫情和突发公共卫生事件；依法开展妇幼保健工作，负责本村内的孕产妇及儿童系统管理。协助卫生院防保站做好儿童计划免疫预防应急接种等工作。
2、做好农村常见病、多发病的一般诊治，急重病人的初级救护，及时转诊和家庭康复指导。
3、积极支持、宣传并参与新型农村合作医疗工作，并严格按照报账制度和收费标准为农民群众提供优质服务。
4、积极推动农民群众健康教育行动，大力宣传普及卫生和预防艾滋病科学知识，促进农民群众养成良好的卫生****惯，形成健康的生活方式，提高群众的自我防病和保健能力。
5、按相关规定积极运用中医药的诊疗方法和适宜技术，为当地群众服务。
6、协助开展村级爱国卫生运动，改善农村卫生环境，促进卫生村建设。
7、协助卫生监督机构做好本村卫生监督检查和指导服务工作。
