Born in a middle class family on the outskirts of London, his father is quite artistic bank clerk and his mother was of German origin Scots. Browning received little formal education in his youth, but on his father's collection of self-taught
Born on May 7,1812, in Camberwell (a suburb of London), first child and only son of Robert Browning and Sarah Wiedemann Browning

Browning was a fast learner and by the age of fourteen was fluent in French, Greek, Italian and Latin. Following Shelley, Browning became an atheist and vegetarian.
At 16, Robert began attending the newly-formed London University, established for those Nonconformists like Robert who were barred from Oxford and Cambridge.

Browning’s wife.
A most respected and essful woman poet of the Victorian period, and was largely educated at home by a tutor, quickly learning French, Latin and Greek.

Self-educated at home; At the age of 14 she wrote her first collection of verse, The Battle of Marathon. Her first work to gain critical attention was The Seraphim, and Other Poems (1838).
At age 15, injured her spine in a riding accident, and was long an invalid, using morphine for the pains for the rest of her life

Elizabeth’s father is strongly against this relationship. They eloped a
