1638 Lycidas《列西达斯》:mourning for his friend, Edward King爱德华·金 who is his classmate in Cambridge. It is a pastoral elegy.

欢喜神,请答应我的请求,  让我跟你们在—起生活,  共享着不越礼数的欢乐:  赴我们静听飞鸣的云雀,  它的歌声在惊破残霄,  直待五采的朝霞升起,  在高空里飞鸣不已,  让我移身走向窗前,  隔着野蔷薇或葡萄引蔓,  或是蟠屈纠缠的藤萝,  向晨光问好,尽情快活;  同时,高声报晓的雄鸡,  巳驱散漫漫黑夜的残余,  它雄视阔步地在雌鸡前面走,  直到草垛或谷仓门口
