The poem is almost like a speech or a dramatic monologue delivered by a character, the character being all of the Hollow Men. But the verses don't hold together like a speech in a play.

The themes in this poem are mainly the lack of hope and spiritual guidance in human society, a lack of an emotional outlet to express ideas and opinions, and the meaninglessness of life.

The first theme is a lack of spiritual guidance and hope in society. When the narrator says, ”the eyes are not here” the author sees the eyes as spiritual leaders.
The second theme of the poem is a lack of an emotional outlet to express ideas and opinions. In the poem, the author quotes “our dried voices…are quiet and meaningless” to indict.

State the poem
In the first section of the poem, a bunch of Hollow Men are leaning together like scarecrows. Everything about them is dry, including their voices and their bodies. Everything they say and do is meaningless.

In the second section, the hollow man is afraid to look at people who made it to "death's dream kingdom" – either Heaven or Hell. The Hollow Men live in a world of broken symbols and images.
