Key paniesEnglish termsconfusionstandardization 随着我国改革开放的不断深入,祖国各地各类公司如雨后春笋般地开办起来。令人遗憾的是,目前有关“公司”、“有限责任公司”、“股份有限公司”的英译很混乱,现归纳如下: 1“公司”的英译无章可循吴景荣主编《汉英词典》,商务印书馆,1979 年,对“公司”的英译为“company ”和“corporation ” 。戴鸣钟,戴炜栋主编《汉英综合辞典》缩印本,上海外语教育出版社,1991 年, 对“公司”的英译为“company ”和“corporation ” 。单其昌主编《最新汉英对外经贸词典》,外语教学与研究出版社, 1993 年8月,第 1版, , 对“公司”的英译 1company ,2corporation ,3Corp. 4Co. 5firm ,因 pany 和corporation 成为我国翻译“公司”的首选之词。但对二者的取舍,存在极大的分歧,无章可循。例如: 中国振华电子工业公司 China Zhen Hua Electronic Industrial Corporation 山东淄博电子工业公司 Zibo pany 海南行政区电子工业公司 Hainan Electronics Industry Corp. 绍兴电子工业公司 Zhenjiang Shaoxing pany 依据英文词典的释义,有人认为就公司的规模而言,corporation pany 。但这又不是绝对的
