The choice of intermediate target bases on the money theories and transmission mechanism related to them. It has three main) standards in technology-measurable,available and relatedness. In addition,it was also determined by some factors,such as the ultimate targets of ary policy, economic situation and systems' reform and so on. In 1996, MI and M2 was used as the adjust targets of ary symbolized the beginning that money supply volume was used as the intermediate target of ary policy. However, the deflation of Chinese economy in recent years leads to different opinions of the current intermediate target. Different voices on the effectiveness of ary supply and the choice of intermediate targets of Chinese ary policy arise.
