【区别】spoil, damage和destroy
damage:破坏,但是程度不一定很重;

Postcards always spoil my holidays.
这是本篇课文唯一一个用一般现在时的句子。用一般现在时来说明、陈述一个事实。
Last summer, I went to Italy. I visited the museums and sat in public gardens.
本句及文中的其他句子几乎全部都运用了一般过去时,因为由last summer可以看出,这件事发生在去年夏天,因此用一般过去时。
last summer中的last表“上一个”
the last day里的last表示“最后一个”,表示“最后一个”时要加冠词the,这时前面要加介词

a few和 few 修饰可数名词复数
a little和little修饰不可数名词
a few和a little表示肯定,意为“有一些,有一点”
few和little表示否定,意为“几乎没有”
注:语言不可数,所以说a few words of Italian,或者说a little Italian.

There are few people in the zoo last Monday.

, send, teach, give, offer, pass, buy, make等动词都可以接两个宾语。一般表示动作结果的叫直接宾语,如原文中的a few words和a book;表示动作目标的叫间接宾语,如原文中的me,通常是间接宾语位于直接宾语的前面。如果直接宾语在前,那间接宾语前必须加介词“to”(表示动作对某人而言)或“for”(表示动作为某人而做)
eg: He lent me a book.=He lent a book to me.
She sent me a card.=She sent a card to me.

c. not…a强调一个也没有,课文最后一句用not…a single比not…a语气更强烈。
eg: He did not speak a word at the party.
