y This study is part of a major longitudinal study
investigating the influence of pre-school, primary and
secondary education on children’s cognitive and
social/behavioural development (EPPSE) in England.
It set out to explore the transition experiences
between primary and secondary school for 550
children and their families in England. The study
adopted a mixed methods approach in order to
investigate child, home, school and LA factors
concerning transitions.
