Transaxle Overview
The U-Series automatic transaxles pact, lightweight,electronically controlled, four speed transmissions introduced in model year 2000. The counter drive gear assembly is located in front of the ary gear sets rather than behind them as in the earlier transaxle models which contribute to pact,lightweight design.
The transmission’s ary gear design is a unique departure from the familiar Simpson ary gear design used in all previous Toyota transmissions. The Simpson ary gear design uses two ary gear sets with mon single sun gear for first, second, third and reverse gears. The U-series departs from this design with two ary gear sets with separate sun gears.
Traditional hydraulic automatic transmission can change gear automatically, depending on different speeds and throttle position. The way it change gear is mechanically change speed and throttle position signal into pilot oil pressure, then send it to the two sides of shift valve, so it can change the circuits of ponents(clutch and brake) of shift. In this way, the e into the ponents, makes bined of separated, brake braked of released, ary transmission upgraded or degraded, so it can change speed automatically.
Electrical hydraulic automatic transmission is made based on hydraulic automatic transmission, adding electrical control system. It can accept the driver’s order by sensors and switches, monitoring the car and engine’s condition, then change the information into signals and transport them to ECU. Then ECU controls shift valves of hydraulic devices by ically operated valve, makes the circuit of clutches and brakes opened or blocked, so controls the time of shift and the shift itself, so make it change speed.
U series automatic transmission has simple structure, light weight, electrical control, four shifts. The model of it is built in 2000, compared with former transmission, intermediate axle is different. New transmission’s intermediate axle is put in front of the ary
