Abstract
With the development of foreign language education in China, the
comprehensive ability of English of listening, speaking, reading and writing gains
more and more concern of students, teachers and even the whole
about prehension came one after another. A large number of testing
types have appeared in many tests. However, all of these testing types can be
concluded into two main categories. One is the selected response question, and the
other is the constructed response question. The former refers to the multiple choices
and true or false question. It is called selected response question on account of the test
itself, which does not need the testees to show their own creative answers. They just
chose the answers which they regard best. The latter mainly refers to the blanks filling
and dictation question. We call it constructed response question is because that this
kind of test requires students to write the answers by themselves. Without doubt, the
two types have their distinct features, especially for the validity. The thesis aims to
make a conclusion that the testing validity is different between them through the
investigation and analysis on the students in senior high school.
In this paper, Chapter One is introduction, which chiefly talks something about
background of research and significance of research. Chapter Two is literature review,
which introduces the definition of validity and related terms; the theoretical
foundation of validity; types of listening test; theoretical foundation of listening test.
Chapter Three is methodology, which mainly concludes research questions, subjects,
instruments, and procedure. Chapter Four is about results
