美剧GossipGirl的字幕翻译中对文化意象的处理

摘要
随着信息时代的到来,影视工业正以前所未有的速度迅猛发展。在这种情况下,
大量最新的影视作品是通过字幕来突破语言限制,向全球各地的观众表现其故事情
节和文化内涵。而且,配以字幕的影视作品不仅能让观众在短时间内领略到最新的
电影,而且可以使其欣赏到“原汁原味”的影视作品,因而受到影视爱好者和语言
学习者的高度重视。从而达到很好的跨文化交流。字幕翻译是我国一个新兴的翻译
领域。而影视字幕翻译中文化意象的处理引起越来越多的人的关注。著名翻译家 Nida
指出:“语言是文化的一部分,任何文本的意义都直接或是间接反映一个相应的文化,
词语意义最终也只能在其相应的文化中找到”。意象一词来源于现代文学批评,是当
代文学批评中极为常见的一个术语,主要是指由文学语言及其表达方式引发的各种
效果,所以任何感人的语言、恰当的比喻、各种象征手法等都可称之为意象。文化
意象(Cultural Image) 是“一种文化符号,它具有了相对固定的独特的文化含义,有的还
带有丰富的意义,深远的联想,人们只要一提到它们,彼此间立刻心领神会,很容易达到
思想沟通”。文化意象由具体的客观的物象(physical image) 和抽象的主观的寓意
(connotation) 组成。文化意象的特点是由实化虚,其功能是在不同的语境中以具体来
表现抽象。影视翻译既是两种语言的转换过程,更是两种文化的碰撞、融合和交流。
本文以美剧 Gossip Girl 第二季(共 13 级)为例,共收集 47 条带有文化意象的字幕
对话,分析其中的文化意象的翻译处理。目的在于通过对文化意象的翻译处理使观
众能够更好的理解影视所要表达的内容和意思,从而达到最佳的跨文化交流。

Abstract
With the arrival of the information age,film and television industry has development
with an unprecedented rapid speed. In this context, an immense number of the latest films
reached the audience through the subtitles translation which breaks the language barriers
to tell stories and present cultural connotations around the world. Furthermore, films with
subtitles not only enable the audience to enjoy the latest movies in a short period of time,
but also to appreciate the “original” works of film and television. Therefore, it has been
highly esteemed that it has achieve a cross-munication. Subtitle translation is
a new area for research in the translation field in China. The cultural image in film
subtitles translation has been attracted more and more people’s attention. A correct
explanation of cultural image can convey the message to the audience accurately. The
famous translator Nida points out:” Language is a part of culture and plays a very
