1 Scope
This standard specified the performance requirements and test method of windshield demister
system of motor vehicles.
This standard applies to the vehicles of category M1.

3 Definitions
Demisting system
Demisting system means the system intended to remove of film of condensate on the inside
surface of windscreen and restore visibility.
Demisted area
Demisted area means the area of glazed surface which has resumed its visibility after demisting.
Mist means a film of condensate on the inside face of the glazed surface.
Demisting
Demisting means the elimination of the mist covering the glazed surface by the operation of the
demisting system.
4 Performance requirements
The area A must be 90% demisted and the area B must be 80% demisted in 10 minutes after the
beginning of the test.
Every vehicle shall be equipped with a windshield demisting system.
